PALMSOURCE EXPERT GUIDE #2
12.21.2003
1:04 AM
I just volunteered to do another expert guide for PalmSource. I doubt I'll be getting another $50 GC for it, by hey, you never know. Anyways, the subject I'm writing on is Scouting, as in Boy Scouts. The ppl in my troop always noticed how much I use technology, so why not share my knowledge about it?
This guide is going to be a TRUE challenge, because of the fact that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like this on the net. The closest I found was a short directory of a few programs on usscout.com. Other than that, mine will be a first. Hopefully since this guide will be something never seen on the net, it will attract a lot of traffic and attention, so I can become famous and retire early and die a happy old man. Well, I can make due with a Palm handheld also.
My plan is to go through the Boy Scout handbook, and compile resources for all the different types of rank requirements, then find resources for all the Eagle merit badges, which will hopefully grow slowly to include ALL merit badges. So far, I've donw about 4 requirements, which leaves about 4 more, then 14 merit badges, as well as Eagle Scout resources, and web links. ETA = oh, sometime late next year, depending on how busy I get. But I assure you, this is my greatest work yet!
Oh, and if you have absolutely no clue what I'm talking about, take a look at my first guide: http://www.palmsource.com/interests/newusers
LOTR FINALE
12.19.2003
11:58 PM
Watched LOTR today, as expected, NOT with my friends. I'm still pissed about it, but I'll get over it soon. Luckily, watching the movie was worth it. It was indeed the best of the trilogy, if you can sit for 3 1/2 hours straight.
LOTR UPDATE

1:02 PM
I'm mad now...I'm still going to LOTR tomorrow, except not with my friends. I find out today that they're all going to the IMAX showing at 2:10 and I'm going at 2:40. =(
UPDATE (5:40) - I'm no longer mad...I'M PISSED OFF!!!
HELLO, MY NAME IS SCOTT'S PC
For some reason, I was watching that peverted tech show called Unscrewed yesterday. Two of my favorite former Tech TV hosts, John C. Dvorak and Chris Pirillo were on promoting their new book, which I hope to get soon. John was talking about how boring peoples' blogs can be if you don't update them frequently or if you just ramble on about your day like anybody really cares.
Chris was talking about making the internet more interesting. He says one way he did that was by typing his blog entries and sending IM's to his wife in third person. An example:
"Hello, I'm Scott's computer. I just want to tell the world that Scott is a swell guy and hopes you all are having a fine day. His day is especially good because he's seeing Lord of the Rings Friday and you're not! HAHAHA"
I should try writing a few posts like that...let's try it out.

TIS THE SEASON

I'm not really sure why, but it doesn't seem like I'm really in the Christmas holiday spirit. I'm not counting the days until Christmas, though someone mentioned it was 12. (i'm counting down the days until school ends though..5 days. 12 hours, 50 min...)
It's not that I'm not into Christmas this year, but it just seems like I'm not really noticing it or getting excited early about it. I'm sort've just going on with my normal life like I expect it to go on like that for a while, despite knowing there's light at the end of the tunnel in 5 days.
Doesn't help that i've been blamed for a bunch of stuff lately...i'm not in the best mood
In the words of Jeff, "THE FREAKING GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST ISN'T HERE YET!"
CANNING SPAM

VICTORY! Well, sort've.
As a result of the Anti-Spam law recently passed in Virginia, police arrested 2 suspects, Jeremy Jaynes (a.k.a. Jeremy James or Gaven Stubberfield), who is notorious for being the 8th most prolific spammer, according to Spamhaus. The other guy was Richard Rutowski.
What's amazing is that credit was given to AOL members for reporting spam to track these guys down. Now I know that AOL is actually doing something.

I have very low respect (probably none) for people who say the F-word, as well as any other form of swearing. I don't give a care what situation you were in, what you were talking about, you happened to you, what language it was in, whether, English, French, or even Swahilli. It's one thing to vent your anger and opinions verbally, but at least do it in a more meaningful way.
This goes to show you I'm not supporting John Kerry. Just a tidbit of my personal philosophy

Being the evil materialistic guy that I am (my asian-ess helps a lot), I'm always into making money and getting stuff. Lately I've been doing two things that will hopefully earn me a little cash. The first is reading emails. There's a whole crapload of sites that pay you to click on links emailed to you. One I'm using is called Mailing Heaven. These places typically pay you only a couple of pennies per email, but this place sends out a few emails a day. I joined back in August and I've made about $7.50, $5 of which should be arriving in my PayPal account shortly. I also have a few other programs I'm a member of, but I might delete my account. It's just too tedious with all these emails. I'm glad I joined though. Now I can buy stuff.
I also am completing surveys for money. This site called Gozing pays you either PayPal or Buy.com gift cert's for completing surveys. Believe it or not I've been payed $18 in the past 6 months for doing these surveys!
Lastly, being that I've got over $20 in my PayPal account, I decided to try a new way. This one required a bit of looking into, but hopefully in the long run, I'll get some kind of return. This site called DollarKafe is where you pay $8, and you get $8+ back. What it is is new members paying you part of their $8 fee, which repeats over and over. I'm a bit skeptical right now about it, but hey, I still got PayPal money left over and that money was easy money. REALLY easy money. If it doesn't work, then my fault. There'll always be more surveys for me to get more money anyways.
I'll keep my stats posted everytime I get a payment. Better yet, join these sites and get paid yourself (of course a small commission goes to me too! =)
Inspiration from Dvorak

from INSIDE TRACK, John C. Dvorak (my hero!):
"I'm not sure what this means, but Microsoft is dumping Intel and switching processors in its next-generation Xbox. The company is going with an IBM design along the lines of the PowerPC or G5 chip. IBM has been supplying Nintendo and Sony and is working on a superchip with Sony. Apparently, Microsoft wanted to get in on the action, although most think the company is simply picking the PowerPC platform. This means the end of people turning Xboxes into cheap Linux computers-something Microsoft detests. Now we can turn them into cheap Macs, I guess!"
